Congratulations to Learning Disabilities Association Vancouver (LDAV) for becoming the newest Grantee in the BCT SVP portfolio.
This chapter of the Learning Disabilities Association was founded in 1970 by a group of parents concerned about the learning difficulties their children were experiencing. These small beginnings led to an organization that serves individuals with learning disabilities in Vancouver, Richmond, and Burnaby.
This association was one of the founders of the Learning Disabilities Association of BC. The national headquarters, the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada (LDAC), is located in Ottawa.
The Association has provided effective programs and services throughout the years, from preschool intervention, social skills development, tutoring, advocacy and public education. We have provided volunteer opportunities and continue to play a significant role in empowering program participants to improve their lives.
This association continues to offer a continuum of services on the basis that learning disabilities are a life long influence. Programs and services focus on the development of coping strategies and building self-advocacy skills.
