EMBERS (Eastside Movement for Business and Economic Renewal Society) runs a Micro-enterprise program that offers business training, financial literacy classes, one-on-one business consultation, ongoing business services support and a matched-savings program to help under-resourced entrepreneurs build seed equity for their businesses.

In their first year with SVP, the EMBERS team restructured their staffing plan to rely on consultants which provides more flexibility, effectiveness and efficiency.  The team also hired and provided in-kind business coaching services to help launch 20 micro-enterprises. 

In the next two years, the team plans to increase the number pr people enrolled in training, facilitate the development of 25 new owner-operated micro-enterprises, implement a business networking series for graduates and current clients, and develop a corporate fundraising program to ensure sustainability in the absence of SVP funding.
