Women’s Recovery Support Project

Dates:
December, 2004 - December, 2006

The Women’s Recovery Support Project joins the forces of two community groups serving the same population – women in the final stages of addiction recovery who are rebuilding their health, relationships and vocations. Pacifica Treatment provides treatment services for women and the Women’s Addiction Recovery Foundation conducts research into women’s addition issues. Located in the heart of Vancouver, Pacific has served more than 8,500 clients and their families since 1977.

The SVP team began by working with Board of Directors to develop a strategic plan for the organization. With their strategy clear, the group soon hired a counselor to facilitate an aftercare program at the Pacific treatment facility while the Women’s Addiction Recovery investigate the prospects for acquiring a facility of their own. SVP Partners helped scope real estate options, briefed the team on space requirement, zoning, mortgage qualification, and facilitated the bidding and negotiation.

As the scope of the project grows, the need for ongoing fundraising became very clear. SVP help a fundraising workshop for the group that emphasized building relationship and connecting with people that you already know rather than cold calling. After the workshop, five board members signed-up for fundraising training and took the lead on the new campaign. The team gelled so well that two SVP Partners joined the board of the Paifica.
