Chrysalis Society operates an innovative three-stage approach to women’s treatment and recovery that has been proven to significantly improve long-term outcomes for women in the Downtown Eastside. Standard recovery and treatment programs assume clients to be fairly cognitive and physically capable of fulfilling a rigorous psycho-education treatment process. Chrysalis has developed a more holistic and gentle program for women who are not prepared for traditional recovery programs.
In their three years with SVP, the Partner team and focused on building a strong management infrastructure that is not reliant on the strong Executive Director. The team documented the program’s unique methodology to standardize service and begin succession planning. Next, the team developed a tracking database to share information about clients as they progress through various stages of recovery, helps meet licensing requirements, track alumni, and communicate long-term success rates for the program. To reduce the administrative burden of phone inquiries for the program, the team developed a new website that will include a social networking component to provide ongoing support structure for women who have graduated from the program. Finally, the team has provided executive coaching for the Executive Director who is often so busy working with clients that she never had time to step back and establish a supportive infrastructure for the organization.
